WARRENDALE, PA – The Materials Research Society (MRS) congratulates Hideo Hosono of the Tokyo Institute of Technology on receiving the 2016 Japan Prize in the area of Materials and Production. Hosono was cited“for the creation of unconventional inorganic materials with novel electronic functions based on nano-structure engineering.“He was specifically recognized for challenging conventional wisdom by creating innovative materials.
Hosono is a long-time MRS member and active volunteer—currently serving on the MRS Board of Directors. He has enjoyed a prolific publishing career, including several articles in the MRS Journals Collection. In celebration of the Japan Prize and its recipient, MRS and its publishing partner, Cambridge University Press, have made articles from the MRS Journals Collection, authored by Hosono, freely available until March 1.
