_MG_7607Kathmandu— After the successful celebration of Yuri’s Night last year, Nepal Astronomical Society (NASO) is back again with more exciting events and programs for the celebration of International day of Cosmonautics and Aviation. As always NASO calls on young learners and space enthusiasts to mark the milestone in the world of science turning program into the successful event providing an opportunity to celebrate the day along with the global community.

NASO’s events have always grabbed the attention of young learners and space enthusiasts, has said Suresh Bhattarai, President of NASO, “This year NASO joined the international community by celebrating the International Day of Cosmonautics and aviation here in Nepal itself.”  The celebration of the upmost event seen by the world of science, is taking place on March-April 2015.

Celebrating the international day of cosmonautics and aviation in Nepal, NASO has scheduled a special screening of the docudrama Space Race produced by the BBC in 2005. The docudrama has four episodes: Space race, Race for Rockets, Race for satellites, Race for survival and race for the moon which are screened on 9, 16, 23 and 30 of March 2015.

The series revolves around the major events and characters in the American/Soviet space race up to the first landing of a man on the moon. It focuses on Sergei Korolev, the Soviet chief rocket designer and Wernher von Braun, as American counterpart. The series was a joint effort between British, German, American and Russian production teams.

This year, the screening of the docudrama gives the clear perspective of development on space sector during the year 1944 to 1969. The screening is followed by expert interactions where the participants are allowed to inquire about the doubts on the series. Along with the docudrama, the event also screens four important productions of ROSCOSMOS in association with the Russian Center of Science and culture which rather provides an exciting insight on the present milestone on the development of space science, cosmology and it’s importance.

Three of the episodes have been already screened at the Russian Center of Science and Culture, has said, Bhattarai, “These episodes kept the participants glued to their seats from the very beginning.”

“Before the screening, registration programme was carried out which was followed by a warm welcome speech from NASO, further event  continues with NASO executives providing the participants with an insight and an update about all the NASO activities and events that have been carried out successfully from the time of it’s establishment till date. “

In addition, Special production of ROSCOSMOS is screened in association with the Russian Center of Science and Culture. This episode of the series Space Race is screened, which is bound to leave you mesmerized and amazed as well as an expert is always present in the screening, to clear your doubts about the episode in case you have any. “You are allowed to inquire about the episode in case you have any queries too!”

“The fourth and the concluding episode is being screened on March 30, 2015 at the Russian Center, Kamalpokhari from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. “The details or information on the event can be found on the official website and the official facebook page of NASO. Or you might just come across it as a lot of people have RSVP attending and many have taken up to sharing the event through facebook itself!” I have already booked my seat for the event. You should check it out too!

The event is supported by Sano Sansar Youth Hostel with RevoScience Media as the media partner in association with Russian Center of Science and Culture. This type of collaboration in field of science helps to update the students’ in Astronomy and Cosmology.naso

Established in 2007, Nepal Astronomical society aims to work for the astronomy and space science outreach, education and research in Nepal. It has been carrying out various activities for this purpose and has been active in the field of space science in Nepal ever since it’s establishment. The second Nepal Astronomy Olympiad is again on the go after the successful organization of the first Astronomy Olympiad and the participation in the 8th International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics (IOAA). Further information and details on the event and other activities of NASO can be found through it’s official website and facebook page. Be sure to check it out if you are one the space enthusiast!
